DHS Systems

Utilis USA much like DHS Systems both manufacture rapidly deployable tactical soft-wall shelters for military purposes.

The Utilis USA shelter system is a rapidly deployable soft shelter that incorporates a unique external folding-frame design and an internal liner system integrated with the outer fabric.
The shelter system sets up in 3-5 minutes with minimal people. For example, the TM54 (600 sq ft) can be erected in under 5 minutes and only requires 4 people.
The internal liner has integrated electrical outlets and air conditioning plenum pre-installed.
The removable floor is made from a heavy weight material to stand up to harsh conditions in the field and remains integral to external fabric via a novel sandwiched Velcro design to reduce set-up time.
The internal liner stays integral to the external fabric of the shelter to greatly reduce the shelter set-up and “under canopy” time.
The shelter is packaged into three carry “bags” that make it easy to transport and very manportable.
Utilis shelters reduce the packaging and shipping footprint by as much as 33% when compared to the current standard Air Force shelter system.
All of the Utilis shelter systems have the capability to complex to one another and to other shelters currently in the military inventory.

Q: For starters, can you tell me a little about the company?

A: Utilis USA, LLC is located in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and, along with our partner, Celina Tent Inc., manufactures the complete line of Utilis USA products. This product line includes rapidly deployable tactical soft-wall shelters that incorporate a patented state-of-the-art folding-frame design. This design is licensed from the European-based Utilis S.A.S. and has been field-proven over the last seven years. The Utilis design was introduced to the U.S. Army in 2005 and is gaining recognition due to its incredibly simple but durable design and lightweight features.

Q: Obviously shelters are your core business. What are some examples of your shelter systems?

A: Utilis USA shelters range in size from 200 to 646 square feet. Our shelters can be used for a variety of applications and in the most extreme conditions. We offer command and control, medical, billeting, decontamination, and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear collective protection solutions.

As an example, the Utilis USA TM54 shelter—581 square feet—can be erected by four people in just three minutes. The tent utilizes a novel pulley-type mechanism to deploy the shelter skin and integral protective liner in one move, which means that no additional time is required to collectively protect the shelter. For general-purpose deployment configurations, the same design concept is used to deploy a lightweight fabric liner integral to the tent skin. This is a huge time-saving function for the warfighter.

Non Tactical Shelter

On December 6, 2006 Celina Tent, Inc. received a requisition from the US Department of Defense/Defense Logistics Agency for 1,200 rapid deployment shelters / humanitarian tents. Celina’s rapid deployment shelter is a general purpose non-tactical shelter designed to offer an economical solution for humanitarian aid in the event of a natural disaster or conflict worldwide. Celina’s 16’ x 16’ shelters are designed to withstand high winds and includes a vented roof, vented sidewalls, and a floor. General purposes include: Medical facilities, billeting, field services, and storage.

The shelters are manufactured at Celina Tent’s facility in Celina, Ohio.
